Peterhead is a small town of about 18,000 population on the north east coast of Scotland, 35 miles north of Aberdeen. Peterhead Canoe Club runs several weekly activities for anyone who wishes to take part. We do white-water canoeing and kayaking, sea kayaking, marathon kayaking and kayak surfing. We have plenty BCU qualified coaches who are always willing to help anyone who wishes to take up canoeing or kayaking as an activity, so why not come along and give it a try? We also have good contacts with other canoe and kayak clubs in Scotland so if there is any other aspect of canoeing that you would really like to get into just ask.

During the winter we have weekly sessions at Peterhead swimming pool on Friday evenings. From 19.30 - 20.30 we cater for juniors and from 20.30 - 21.30 for adults. The cost is £4 per session at present. During summer months we are at Peterhead Lido on Friday evenings from 18.00. Anyone is free to join the club from school age up and the membership fees are very reasonable. Come along to one of our Friday evening sessions to try before you buy.

There is usually a Sunday river trip and we try to cater for all skill levels to suit the demand. This means there may be a beginners trip one weekend followed by a more advanced trip the next. Ocasionally we organise set beginners courses. The trips and beginners courses are usually in Scotland however during 2006 and 2007 we organised trips to the French Alps, have a look at the photographs in the gallery. We are also planning a trip to paddle some rivers in Slovenia and Austria from 20 - 30 June 2009.

Our social organiser, Donna, has a packed programme of off-the-water activities which include dances, ceilidhs, paintballing, bowling, meals, even shopping trips etc. Non-paddling partners and friends are always welcome at these events.

The plan is to meet at my house in Maud about 08.15, sort out transport, leave here at 08.30 and go do the Lower Findhorn, which although low should be running OK.

Have a look at the video of this river near Crianlarich, maybe worth a go when we are in the area some time? http://www.ukriversguidebook.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=45260
To view it just click on the word 'video' in blue on the first post.

Yes, I did ot for Sue's Stretch.
Try Stirling Canoes or even Berkshire Canoes. Check the web - but remember you need the metal bits on the side to thread the strap through. Else give us a ring. Johnnyboy
